The project scope is two main phases.
- Phase one is the construction of a 209,000m3 rock fill buttress to stabilize the existing lower slope of the landfill
- Phase two is the main landfill closure works which include site grading, installation of drainage items to collect leachate and runoff and geomembrane liner installation.
Approximately 48,000 square feet of the penstock steel inner liner for Units U5 and U6 will be stripped and recoated to restore its protective integrity and ensure long-term durability against corrosion and operational wear.
This is a three-stage process involving:
- High-pressure washing
- Abrasive blasting
- Relining of the penstock
The supply of labour, materials, and equipment for the construction of sidewalks, bike lanes, and road rehabilitation on Esquimalt Road and Craigflower Road. The work includes underground utility renewals for storm and sanitary sewers using both open cut and trenchless methods, traffic signal upgrades and modifications, and the installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons (RRFBs).
Replacement of deep (~12m) storm drain infrastructure at the intersection of Moss Street and Point Street in the City of Victoria.
Work includes – Shoring design and excavation to grade, removal of the existing damaged storm drain pipe cleaning, installation of new reinforced concrete pipe and manhole, replacement of adjacent underground infrastructure, and surface restoration.
- Hot tap of 350 mm AC main c/w 850m of 200-300mm PVC watermain and appurtenances along with a significant concrete pad mounted KIOSK and valve assembly.
- Minor electrical works for KIOSK.
- In addition , installation of numerous 450-600mm HDPE culverts and headwalls.
- Project includes full lane surface restoration of Boys Road.
Another exciting project for Cowichan Tribes, Chatwin Engineering and Hazelwood Construction.
Recoating the interior of the 10′ diameter penstock using fully automated technology. This is a 3-stage process involving high pressure washing, abrasive blasting and relining of the penstock. Access is gained through cutting in temporary access hatches and welding back on completion of the relining.
Work also includes the relining of the scroll case interior and the exterior of the turbine inlet valve. Structural repairs to the existing concrete and steel penstock supports is also to be completed.
Work will be completed over a 4-month period with reservoir levels monitored and pumped down as needed. Work also includes cleaning of the stator as park of the generator upgrade project happening concurrently.
